state-park-to-host-interpretive-guided-tour-1St. Augustine - The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Washington Oaks Gardens State Park will host a ranger guided walk through the park on Saturday, July 11, in celebration of National Park and Recreation Month.

While leisurely walking through Maritime Hammock and the formal gardens, the ranger will stop along the way to discuss Flora and Fauna native to Florida, wildlife seen in the park and a brief history of the area. Cameras, sunscreen, bug repellant and walking shoes are recommended.

Governor Charlie Crist recently signed a proclamation recognizing July as Park and Recreation Month. To celebrate, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service encourages Florida’s citizens, families and friends to experience outdoor recreation at a Florida state park in July.

This program is included in regular park entrance fee of $5.00 per vehicle and will depart from the Visitor Center at 11:00 a.m. Plants will be available for purchase that day via the Friends of Washington Oaks second Saturday plant sale.
