The Sarasota Craft Show

October 1, 2009

sarasota-craft-show-1Sarasota, FL (July 29, 2009) – The Sarasota Craft Show (sarasotacraftshow.com), a new event that will feature a juried selection of highly regarded artists from across the county, demonstrations by artists and entertainment will be held Dec. 4 – 6 at the Sarasota Bradenton International Convention Center.
Richard and Joanna Rothbard, directors of the Slate Hill, N.Y.-headquartered American Art Marketing (www.americancraftmarketing.com), will independently manage the new Sarasota Craft Show. The Rothbards, who own An American Craftsman galleries in New York, Savannah, Ga. and Stockbridge, Ma., have previously produced successful arts and crafts fairs in the Northeast including the Berkshires Art Festival held earlier this month.

More than 150 fine crafts artists working in clay, wood, glass, fiber, jewelry and more are expected to be showcased at the new Sarasota event.
For several years, the American Craft Council presented its American Craft Show at the Sarasota Bradenton International Convention Center during early December. In May, ACC officials announced the cancellation of both the Sarasota and Charlotte, N.C. craft council events.

sarasota-craft-show-2Richard Rothbard moved quickly to secure rights to create a new event that would attract leading craftsmen and ensure that the thousands of art collectors, admirers and enthusiasts who have historically attended the Sarasota showcase would continue to enjoy high quality, handcrafted art.
“There will not be any major changes. Many of last year’s artists will be returning and there will be many new faces. There will be a number of new artists joining the show who are featured in my galleries and rarely exhibit at retail fairs. The admission will remain at $8 but a $10 three-day pass will allow patrons to come and go for the entire show,” said Richard Rothbard. “We will give away to all attendees a $10 gift certificate for American Craftsman Galleries, which can be used at any one of its four locations. I am looking forward to exhibiting my puzzle boxes in Sarasota for the first time. “
Information about the galleries owned by the Rothbards is available at www.anamericancraftsman.com. To learn more about Richard Rothbard’s career as an actor and artist, go to www.boxology.com.
