Monster at MOSH

October 15, 2009

monsterJACKSONVILLE, Fla. — MOSH’s resident mad scientists are hard at work brewing up an evening of fun and frolic for the annual frighteningly fun event, Monster MOSH. On Friday, October 30, from 5 to 9 p.m., the Museum will be transformed into a trick-or-treaters’s delight, complete with zombies, creepy experiments, and of course…candy!

A variety of spooky surprises will await unsuspecting visitors as they make their way through the Museum. Those brave enough will want to tour the haunted house in the history exhibit Currents of Time. Guests will go on a flashlight-guided tour of the 9,300-square-foot exhibit. But…will they all make it out? Less daring guests will enjoy the “Under the Sea Halloween Carnival” in the Atlantic Tails exhibit. This area of the Museum will be reserved for ghoulish boys and girls seven years old and under. Other activities will include pumpkin decorating, face painting, costume and scream contests, and special Halloween-themed planetarium and science programs.

Monster MOSH guests will also get to explore Animal Grossology. The traveling exhibit, on display in the Museum’s second-floor gallery, is a perfect tie in to Halloween. Guests will learn gross facts about members of the animal kingdom. Did you know, for example, that leeches are used post-surgery to assist in the healing process? Or that dung beetles are nature’s living pooper-scoopers? Oozing with interactive elements, Animal Grossology will have people of all ages cringing – and laughing – in disgust.
