Florida Aquarium Releases Juvenile Green Sea Turtle Friday

juvenile-green-sea-turtleA green sea turtle journeys to Spring Hill to be released after 6-months of rehabilitation at The Florida Aquarium on Friday, August 7 departing The Florida Aquarium at 10:00 a.m. (Release around 11:30 a.m. or noon.) on the West coast north of Tampa:

The Florida Aquarium has an extensive and successful sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation program.

The juvenile green sea turtle stranded in Hernando County on Feb. 24, 2009 near a boat ramp off of Shoal Line Blvd.; stranding weight was 2.57 kg (5.5.lb); may have been hit by a boat or jet ski; several scrapes to the bone on top of head, left front flipper, left side of carapace, left rear flipper, severe bruising to plastron with scraping and bone exposure as well; slightly emaciated.Please contact Tom Wagner at 813-767-3558 or Susan Coy at 813-841-6819 for exact location.
